Dili matukib ang akong kalipay” (My happiness is immeasurable) said Datu Mambiyahe Benjor Mansulunay leader of the tribe Banwaon in Binicalan, San Luis, Agusan del Sur as he heard the upcoming project to be implemented on their community.

The Indigenous People Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health and Nutrition (IP MNCHN) will make Binicalan in San Luis as their pilot beneficiary of the said project.

The said project aims to alleviate the health issues of our IP brothers and sisters but mostly on the newborn children, mothers and pregnant women. By providing health facilities and education to the community about health.

Provinces like Zamboanga del Sur, Bukidnon, North Cotabato and Compostella Valley are also beneficiaries of this project.

There was a Review on the Status of Birth, Marriage, and Philhealth Registration of IPs conducted last September 19, the Project Manager from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Dr. Noel Espallardo, SP Susan Gerona and IP representatives and NCIP, attended the said meeting.

The National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) will be the key implementer partnered with UNFPA and will be funded by the European Union (EU).

According to Ms. Melanie Joy Seville of UNFPA, the said project will really help those mothers and pregnant women to have an easy access on health services. The project will provide equipments and other facilities that will help on solving the health problems they have.

This coming October 10, the project lunch will be held at the Gov. D.O. Plaza Government Center, where there will be a signing of Manifesto and other activities.
