New Visayas, Trento receives Upgraded Biosand Water Filter Facility

“A big thank you...,” said Mayor Jhonmark Billanes of Trento on his interview in PTV8 as the sitio Maitum, New Visayas, Trento received their Upgraded Biosand Water Filter Facility last July 23, 2013.

Along with Vice Governor Santiago Cane Jr., Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members of District 2, Honorable Edwin Demegillo and Honorable Samuel Tortor attended the said turnover ceremony.

As the father of Trento, Mayor Johhmark Billanes attended also the ceremony and with him were Vice Mayor Ron Agcopra and Sangguniang Bayan members and other Barangay officials.

Vice Governor Santi Cane, Jr., Led the cutting of the ribbon and with him were Mayor Johnmark Billanes, Barangay Captain Rolando Jibalay and BAWASA Chairman Irenea Carias.

Mayor Billanes was so glad to have the project on his municipality since there is a scarcity of potable water supply in the area. He extended his gratitude to the Provincial Government of Agusan Del Sur. Over 40 families are expected to benefit the facility, he added.

According to Chairman Carias, they will walk for almost two kilometers just to have potable water from a deep wheel. And the worst is, if rainy season comes, it's hard to get water because flood will contaminate the water source.

Captain Rolando Jibalay also extended his gratitude to the Governor Eddiebong Plaza and Congresswoman Bebs Mellana-Plaza and people behind the project because it really helps the people of Sitio Maitum.
Upgraded Bio-sand Water Filter Facility already helped the Barangay Manat, San Roque, San Isidro, and Kapatungan of the municipality of Trento.

A single Bio-sand filter is worth 180,000 pesos in which the source of funding is the Performance Challenge fund received by the provincial government since it received the Seal of Good Housekeeping last 2010.
