Hugyaw Tu Agusan; A night of Prayers

“To pray for Agusan del Sur. To be part of the change in our Province..There is no Age, no Religion. Let’s ask God to bless Agusan del Sur..” Mrs. Riza Cano Lopez’ prophetic gestures during the 9th Hugyaw tu Agusan held last June 8, 2013 at the Naliyagan Cultural Center, Gov. D.O.P. Government Center Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

Mrs. Lopez added that the most important part of Hugyaw lies beyond the wonderful dance or band presentations or meeting new friends - it is to come together and pray for our Province. “We will not stop praying until the Lord makes Agusan del Sur a praise on the Earth.”, she proclaimed taking it from Isaiah 62:6-7.

Two (2) young Agusanon’s also shared about how blessed they are for being part of this Spirit-filled gathering of all Agusanon youth. Ms. Jan Rubillos from the Municipality of Esperanza declared “Nothing is Impossible for God”. Her experience as part of the service team of the said event made her witness that indeed Religion is not a barrier for everyone to unite and witness for the same God that we praise. Wenna Banez, the second sharer was inspired on how Agusanon youth uses their talents and skills for the Glory of God.

This year’s theme is “I Witness” which is taken from Acts 1:8. Every Agusanon is called to be a witness and that means everyone should put faith into action. During the gathering, a Christian prayer was said in Manobo not only reminding us of our roots as Agusanons but to continue to root ourselves in Christ.
