Pablo victims of Agusan Sur get P1M aid from Cebu City
The province of Agusan del Sur received recently a financial assistance of P1 million from Cebu City for the victims of typhoon Pablo.
Governor Eddiebong Plaza made the announcement during the provincial officials and employees’ regular flag raising ceremony this morning at the Capitol grounds here in Patin-ay, Prosperidad.
The governor said the help from the city government will go in a long way in helping the victims recover from the devastations of the superstorm especially those living in Bunawan, Trento, Veruela, Sta. Josefa and Loreto towns whose houses were totally destroyed.
Many were also rendered without a source of livelihood as crops were heavily damaged.
The local chief executive was profuse with gratitude to the City Council for approving the aid.
City Councilor Richard Osmena authored and pushed for the passage of the resolution which was approved by the council last week.
Earlier this year, the provincial officials with the Governor himself taking the lead wrote a letter to the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the Queen City of the South asking for assistance.
The Cebu City government sourced the donation from the Quick Respond Fund of its Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Fund for this year.
The governor assured that all the donations will get to the victims as they work out the rehabilitation of the worst-affected areas in the province.
He added that Mandaue City, also in the province of Cebu is on its way of bringing in help to the Agusanons. (PPIO-AgSur)
