AGUSAN DEL SUR - The provincial government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS) handed out a total of 3,435 food packs to seven barangays in San Luis and one barangay in Talacogon which were affected by floods due to the heavy rains brought about by Tropical Depression Crising recently.

Vice Governor Santiago “Santi” Cane Jr. together with Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) Officer Flordeliza Obani, municipal and barangay officials personally visited the victims and distributed the relief assistance.

In a data gathered from PSWDO, 380 food packs were handed out in San Nicolas, Talacogon, while 418 in Poblacion, 720 in Doňa Flavia, 400 in Doňa Maxima, and 520 in Sta. Ines, all in San Luis town.

The following day, the same team handed out 233 food packs in Culi, 437 in Nueva Trabajo and 327 in Dimasalang, still in San Luis.

PAG-ASA issued public storm signal number 1 in the province during the onslaught of Crising which inundated the province over the weekend causing rivers, tributaries and other bodies of water to swell and submerge low-lying communities. Some roads were rendered impassable as waterways spilled out.

However, the Agusan del Sur PDRRMC reported no fatality or casualty but urged residents in flood-prone areas to be cautious and vigilant as water from adjacent provinces are still coming in to the province. (PPIO_AgSur)
