Peaceful elections

Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur—The 26th Infantry (Ever Onward) Battalion (26th IB), which has operational jurisdiction of over 187 Barangays within the municipalities of Sibagat, Esperanza, San-Luis, Talacogon, Lapaz, Loreto and Bayugan City, is on head up high after fulfilling its mandate ensuring ‘Credible, Honest and Peaceful Barangay Election 2013,” in the seven municipalities in the province of Agusan del Sur.

‘The realization of this very important event in a democratic process is through the constant collaboration of the unit with other partners the respective Local Government Units, Comelec, DepEd, PNP, civil society organizations, electorate and the candidates themselves,” said Major Noli Kanashiro, Executive Officer of the 26th IB.

Maj. Kanashiro said the barangay being the basic administrative unit in our system of government needs to be well taken care of especially over the years.  “It will be a battle ground for municipal, provincial and even the CPP/NPA/NDF, fielding its own candidate for constituency while most of which are situated in the remote, far-flung and are most likely various forms of election violence takes place,” he said.
