Four Remote Villages in Esperanza, Agusan Sur Lighted
ESPERANZA, AGUSAN DEL SUR – Four far-flung communities in this municipality were formally energized yesterday in simple rites attended by provincial, municipal and local electric cooperative officials.
Connected to the grid of the Agusan del Sur Electric Cooperative (ASELCO) were Purok 1 and Sitio Libertad in Barangay Tandang Sora and Sitios Japao and Acday of Barangay Guadalupe.
The project costs were P1 M with 82 households tapped with power supply for the first time in their lives and P2 M with 91 households, respectively.
Funds were sourced out from the Sitio Electrification Program of President Noynoy Aquino and implemented by the National Electrification Administration through ASELCO.
Gracing the ceremonial switching on were Governor Eddiebong Plaza, Rep. Maria Valentina “Tina” Plaza of the province’s 1st Congressional District, Vice-Gov. Santiago Cane Jr., Mayor Leonida Manpatilan and a host of officials.
In his message, Governor Plaza called on to the residents to help ensure the sustainability of the project by religiously paying their monthly bill. He added that with the convenience of having electricity, they could now focus on working in increasing their income to give their family and children a better future.
“Your children can now study better at night and I urge you to give your all-out support in their education,” Governor Plaza said.
Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Marites Bada of Tandang Sora expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the officials for working out the electrification project. She said they have been long clamoring for electricity and its realization will spell development in their villages. (PPIO_AgSur)
